A Canadian human safety trial is underway to ensure this natural health product causes no undesirable side-effects. A later efficacy trial will test the degree to which it can reduce or in the case of some individuals possibly eliminate coeliac disease symptoms in people following a gluten-free diet.

It is anticipated that a product could be available to people with coeliac disease in Canada within the next three years. Further testing and approval of the product is planned for the US and Europe.

If it proves effective in treating the symptoms of coeliac disease, it is possible that it may also have a positive effect in people who do not have coeliac disease but who are gluten-sensitive. However, further research and clinical testing is required to confirm if this is the case.
